Wow! Our Student Led Tours were Amazing :)

IMG_0532Dear Parents,

A big thank you to all our fabulous families for taking the time to attend our 2013 Student Led Tours. We had mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, cousins, toddlers & babies! The children absolutely loved showing you their learning. After recess, each Prep student was asked to write and draw about their favourite part of the morning. Comments included “I liked kicking the ball with my dad & Sporty”, “I liked showing my mum how to draw a bird”, “I liked rock ‘n’ roll dancing with Groovy”. It was clear they especially loved sharing their Specialist classes with you. We hope you enjoyed sharing your child’s learning with them. Thanks again for your terrific support. The Prep teachers x

Prep B Assembly Item

Dear Prep B parents,

On Friday 31st May, Prep B are sharing their learning at assembly. We have been talking about what each student feels they have learnt during their first two terms at school. Their responses are thoughtful and represent a range of learning experiences from across the curriculum. The children have been rehearsing at school (and hopefully) at home. If they need another copy of their lines, please let me know. We hope you can make it! (wish us luck). Mrs B:)

The Mini Market

Last week, as part of their unit of inquiry centered around the transdisciplinary theme of ‘How we Organise Ourselves’, the middles held a Mini Market in the BER building. The middles students were responsible for organising the site, marketing and promotions, management, stalls, and hand-made produce. All that remained was to gather a crowd and that’s where the Preps came in. The preps and juniors strolled down by the dozen, armed with pockets of change and hungry tummies. It needn’t be said that they didn’t leave the way they came in. The Preps learnt a lot about the value of money and had a lot of fun. It was easy to see why, especially with things on offer like home-made cupcakes, jewellery, flags, games, and much more. Already looking forward to next time!

Endless opportunities.Smiles all round.

Literacy: The Prep Journey

Language is at the heart of all learning and is central to the lifelong development of our students’ full potential. Our Prep students develop into confident and informed communicators as they think, listen, talk, read and write their way to important new understandings. In the process they are building positive relationships with others and with the world around them. A wide variety of communication mediums are used, ranging from traditional materials, such as reading picture story books and writing with pencils on paper, to working with the latest information and communication technologies. Teachers plan learning experiences that enable our Prep students to develop essential literacy skills and concepts in meaningful and enjoyable contexts, using an inquiry approach to learning.

Welcome to the Prep Blog

Introducing ‘The Prep Unit at Kunyung’

A warm welcome to the students and families of the Prep Unit at Kunyung Primary school.  We work together collaboratively to plan, teach and assess curriculum.  As a team we work towards maximising student outcomes by planning what we want students to learn, working out how students best learn and how we will know what they have learned.  We operate an open door policy, please come down and see us or telephone if you have any questions or wonderings. Education is a partnership between home and school, it is important that we maintain close links in this very important process:-
